10 reasons to bid on CCNF’s females at the 2014 Priority auction this coming Saturday!
1. Fortuna, lot #54, is the daughter of our prepotent Herdsire, CCNF Royal Ring of Fire. The unique thing that many folks don’t tune into but which we have always known, is that key to the Ringo kids’ quality, is not just that he has Royal Rose and Hemingway in his pedigree but also his incredible dam, 5Peruvian Margarita, an original member of the CCNF foundation herd. Though Margarita passed away some time ago, her legacy has lived on here in the years since in her many impressive grandchildren. Ring of Fire kids have won more trophies at the Futurity for this breeding program than even Matrix Majesty or Elite Legend. That is saying something.
2. Honeysuckle, lot #10, was sired by our reigning Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass Matrix Majesty! It was not by chance that three of our young Majesty kids also helped him to win his ultra-competitive Get-of-Sire class at that same show and were utterly dominant at the recent fall shows. Matrix Majesty’s progeny are for real!
3. Both Honeysuckle and Fortuna are in the prime of their respective show careers and are already proven winners (5 blue ribbons and 2 Reserve Championships between them). Buy them and show them. It’s marketing and it is how the game is played. A winning animal at a show is worth more than a year of full page color ads (sorry print folks, it’s true).
4. Did you know that Honeysuckle’s maternal grandam, Marian, is the same extremely fine grey female that produced not only Honeysuckle’s Champion dam, CCNF Jasmine but also our three acclaimed Champions CCNF Annabeth, CCNF Smoke Ring (now a working Herdsire at Arrow Acres Farm in NJ) and her latest, CCNF Marick (not by chance also sired by Matrix Majesty), who just won Championships at his last two shows back in October.
5. Fortuna’s dam, Flashy (FRE Elixir’s Fashionably Late), was a multiple Champion and Judges’ Choice winner we purchased fromLori Walker at the Farm at Rainbow’s End. Sometimes it’s the small farms that produce the greatest animals too!
6. Fortuna’s full sister, CCNF Gabbana, who was a Champion in her own right for us as a young lass has now had two crias of her own. It is in fact only the presence of her older sister (and now her baby girl, CCNF Couture) that enables us to comfortably part with Fortuna.
7. Honeysuckle sells with a reproductive guarantee and a free breeding to any CCNF Herdsire on the farm when she is of age. The list of available Herdsires is deep and grows deeper by the day. If it were up to us though, we would probably breed her with Futurity/NAAS Champion and Judges’ Choice winner, CCNF Elixir! Though one could always go with any number of the other Champions we have available: CCNF Archangel, Snowmass Sub-Zero, CCNF Defiance, Snowmass Conopa’s Kahuna, TGF Legit, etc…choices, choices. It’s not a bad dilemma to have.
8. Though Fortuna of course sells with the same reproductive guarantee and free breeding, in her case the way forward has to a great degree already been mapped out. Her full sister (Gabbana) already had a topflight Matrix Majesty son of her own, CCNF Zegna, in 2012. One could do worse than to slum it with the aforementioned Futurity Champion and 2013 Herdsire of the Year for her first breeding!
9. Though our farm guarantees don’t change one iota, we do offer more generous financing terms when selling our animals at the Priority Auction — 34% Down (Interest Rate Prime +1) with 24 monthly payments, with the option for 25% Down (Interest Rate Prime +1) with 48 monthly payments if the final purchase price is $20,000 or more — than we do when selling animals off of the farm by private treaty. Did I also mention that our reserves (the minimum prices at which we will sell our animals at auction) are going to be reasonable? Yes, we would of course love to sell our top-flight females for extremely high prices (who wouldn’t?) but at the same time auctions are first and foremost a marketing opportunity for us. If a bidder ends up getting a great deal on one of our females because people weren’t paying attention and then talks about what a great package they got from an established breeding program…well again: you just can’t buy enough print ads to equal the positive exposure that that creates going forward.
10. Last but not least, when you purchase an alpaca at the Priority from CCNF, you are not just getting animals with amazing proven genetics and history behind them. You are also getting Cas-Cad-Nac Farm, our knowledge, and our support going forward. One thing that has always given us comfort about the US alpaca business throughout the years that we have been fortunate enough to be a part of it, is that through all of its ups and downs, it is first and foremost a business which relies heavily on customer service and ultimately the human touch. We’ve been breeding alpacas full time for 17 years now at CCNF. We are not some fly by night operation making claims that we can’t substantiate. We stand behind every animal we sell with our guarantees and back them up fully in those unfortunate instances when something goes wrong. When you buy an alpaca from us, you are buying a little piece of CCNF and that matters to us on an intrinsic level. Reputations in this business are, for better or for worse, built upon merit. Treat people well and word gets around…and vice-versa. So if you don’t want to take our word for the claims that we make about our animals and our farm we’re ok with that, but ask around. We’ve been in this business for almost half of our lives now and are more than comfortable with the reputation we have built up in that time!
