Cas-Cad-Nac’s B side.

Grazing on the slope of Mt. Ascutney.

It’s funny how even with all of the activities that take place here daily there are certain parts of the farm that even we don’t see or visit very often. One of those places is this beautiful little slice of heaven off the northeast corner of the CCNF Arena, what is known internally as pen/paddock B6 (it being the 6th pen & paddock on the Arena’s north or B side). The photo to the left was taken this morning as we were doing a breeding up in that feed group. Though the previous inhabitants of B6 in June and July were a rather lazy group of due females that laid around close to the barn allowing most of the paddock to overgrow, its current occupants (half of whom are 3 month old crias) are more enthusiastic about taking advantage of the pasture available to them. The mountainside you see immediately behind the pasture is still CCNF domain though f you go up and over the visible saddle just a bit it will eventually abut the 2000 acre Mt. Ascutney State Park. Though it may not be the Peruvian Altiplano, it’s not a bad gig just the same.
