CCNF Chronicle’s 300th Post & Herdsire(s) of the Year!
I’ve known that my 300th post was coming. I was quite honestly planning on probably putting up a gratuitously cute cria photo. Who doesn’t like one of those after all?
Ultimately though it seems fitting that with the 300th post since this blog’s inception in 2010, that we are in fact announcing two big wins at the 2012 Futurity: Snowmass Elite Legend (whom we co own with Snowmass Alpacas and Tripping Gnome Farm) was awarded the 2012 Futurity Herdsire of the Year (light colors) and MFI Peruvian Precocious (whom we co own with Magical Farms) was awarded the 2012 Futurity Reserve Herdsire of the Year (light as well)!
We’re obviously really pumped! For unlike last year when EL won that same trophy with nothing but offspring from his birth farm (CCNF and TGF didn’t have any Elite Legend crias born until the summer of 2011), this year our animals were front and center (Elixir, Jesusa, Hyperion, Omnia take a bow please…) and played a very big part in their Sire’s winning. As for Precocious, we are hugely gratified that his offspring (Flirtatious, Confectious, Tenacious, Bellagio, and Invictus) likewise did enough to garner the Reserve trophy for their dad! Though show results are really just that, given the show in question it’s pretty obvious now why it is that we’ve been so excited about those two males since we brought their genetics into the fold. I wonder how an Elixir x Flirtatious or a Tenacious x Jesusa cria would look? It says here that we’re probably going to find out sooner rather than later. For now though we’re going to savor these victories a little bit while we prepare to deliver the next generation of CCNF alpacas!

Hmmm… I like the way that genetic mix is sounding!!! To the future (clink clink). Congratulations.
