CCNF Open Farm: It’s officially ON.

So after batting it around for a week or so and seeing how things looked around the area, we have made the call that we will go ahead with our participation in National Alpaca Farm Days, 9/24 and 9/25. Below you will find the blurb I also just posted to the “what’s new” section of our website, the original of which can be found here.

Our only trepidation, post Irene, was that with a nearby DOT sign and barricade saying that Rt. 131 was closed to all but local traffic we weren’t sure (and I guess, truth be told, we still aren’t) how many folks might get psyched out and not keep driving towards the farm when they get off of I-91. We will however be sure to have signage up featuring the obnoxiously cute head of baby Golden Sovereign (that’s him at left) to guide and encourage visitors in. We really do need people to come that weekend because otherwise we’ll end up each day having to eat 4 boxes of donuts ourselves and that my friends could get ugly in a hurry. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Cas-Cad-Nac Farm is pleased to announce that we will be participating in the National Alpaca Farm Days later this month! Please stop by the farm on either 9/24 or 9/25 any time between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. There are 240+ alpacas on the farm at this writing and the pastures at CCNF Arena (where we will be hosting our visitors on those days) are filled with over 30 playful newborn crias born since May. Who knows: you might even get to witness an alpaca birth that very weekend!

For those of you that have not visited CCNF before, this is a chance to visit New England’s largest alpaca farm in a casual, relaxed, atmosphere. There will be snacks and refreshments provided and we (Ian and Jen) as well as our staff will of course be around to answer any questions you might have. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your cameras!

IMPORTANT DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Though the farm itself was unscathed, because of road damage to VT Rt. 131 resulting from Hurricane Irene, CCNF is really only accessible from I-91, exit 8 at this time. Rt. 131 west (that is driving from the Interstate towards Wheeler Camp Rd.) is only open to local traffic and folks coming here will need to drive around a VT DOT blockade marking the road as such immediately after they get off of I-91. Continue on Rt. 131 west for 2.0 miles and then turn right onto Wheeler Camp Rd., drive to the end of the road and you’re there (well, here). We will also have signs up helping to mark the way.

As a general guide we are 1.5 hours from Burlington, VT, 2.5 hours from Boston, MA, and 4.0 hours from NYC.
