Coming soon: the virtual CCNF farm tour
I’ve had it in my mind for a while now that when things slowed down in the off-season that one of the things I could do would be to make a virtual tour of the farm’s major structures in pictures and maybe even some video. This is definitely something that is only possible because of this new format and would have never even been an option in the newsletter’s old hardcopy form. It simply would have taken up too much copy space.
I honestly have no idea how this will come off or if any of you poor people out there that are nice enough to read this site have any interest? I suppose it will be an instructive experience in any case, the question though is for whom? One of the truths of much of modern technology is that we feel compelled to use it to it’s fullest extent whether or not it in fact contributes to the greater discourse in any truly meaningful way. So please pardon me while I play a bit…
For those that live elsewhere, whether across the country or on another continent altogether, it will hopefully give you a glance into the physical plant of this farm and how we lay things out and manage a herd that fluctuates between 200 to 300 animals. Though I don’t think you’ll find anything terribly radical as we go from barn to barn (there are three) having said that, I have never been to three farms/ranches that do things quite the same way, so who knows? More on this in the not too distant future. Hope everyone has great weekend, I need more coffee now.
Can’t wait to see it! I’m sure it’ll give ideas to others who are just starting out and who might need some inspiration.
