Invictus and Tenacious have their first crias on the ground!
Sorry not to have posted anything in over a week. The past 7 days were taken up mostly by the craziness of our kids’ last week of school and all of the attendant events that surrounded that. With Sam graduating from our beloved Upper Valley Waldorf School as an 8th grader (he moves on to public high school next year), it was also a week filled with a roller-coaster of emotions for all members of the family.
I can honestly say that prior to last night’s graduation party, which we hosted here at our house, that I had no idea what our small swimming pool would look like with 30 +/- kids in it all at once. Now I do! I think at least 3 people (including yours truly) thought of that scene from Caddyshack. We did wake up this morning slightly freaked out that we didn’t have to make the 1 hour round-trip school commute for the first time since last September. In a few days it will feel totally normal but right now, we’re all still adjusting to not having to be in two places at once as we have been since Sambo’s lacrosse season started back in early April. All good in the end though.
A couple of exciting happenings did take place on the farm though while we were busy dodging the trees over the past few days. Females bred to both CCNF Invictus and his younger brother, CCNF Tenacious, each gave birth to healthy and rather interesting looking white boys! I’ll follow up in a day or two with a pic of Tenny’s little guy (whose dam is a white Legacy Gold daughter, Maya) but these mark the first crias ever sired by our now three-year-old Champion Precocious sons! The mom on the Invictus boy, who looks particularly yummy from a fleece perspective, is a white Snowmass Royal Rose daughter by the way, for anyone keeping track of the genetic score at home. That’s a picture of him to the left at roughly a day of age…
