Mischief Managed
So herd health day yesterday wasn’t really so bad after all. Though it started out in the two smaller lower barns with just Jen, Kim, and myself by the time we started on the Arena, where the vast majority of the herd lives, we had a full compliment of victims: 2 holder/shot givers, 2 nail clippers, and one person to run the record keeping so that we could keep up a good rhythm. Though I will grant that it wasn’t a full on herd health day (we don’t give injectable Ivomec here January through April) the reality is that we body scored, administered ADE paste where necessary (everyone under 12 months of age), gave any vaccines that were due, and trimmed the toenails on 236 alpacas in 4.5 hours total. Not too shabby.
