Nutcracking in NYC

You may have noticed a decided lack of alpaca related content over the past several days. There has of course been the usual pre-Christmas craziness, compounded more than anything by the fact that we take off for 10 days on the 26th. Though the farm will be fully staffed in our absence, we can’t really just hop in a car and go away for that long of a period with an operation of this scale. Come to think of it, that could certainly be a topic for another time.

Anyway…Amidst the cheery Holiday chaos though, we did have the opportunity yesterday to travel down to NYC for a night to visit my sister’s little clan of 4 (plus my folks) and see our niece dance in the Nutcracker! Though we (the CCNFers) all love our life on the farm here in VT, it’s really kind of fun to go and do the “other” now and again. To wit: all jazzed up last night after watching their sister/cousin dance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, three of our hooligans did what any self-respecting city kid would do in an empty metro car @10 PM: they subway surfed! Maxy’s blur would be the byproduct of his bustin’ a move. Timidity is not really a problem there.
