Pictures from the baby boom
After almost 36 straight hours of rain the sun finally broke out yesterday afternoon and as I write this the farm is inhabited by many disheveled looking but quickly drying out alpacas. I was headed up to the Arena around 5PM yesterday get Majesty his second breeding of the day — a good gig if you can get it, no doubt — so I took along my new camera on the off chance that the crias no longer looked like drowned rats. They, and Mother Nature, were obliging as you can see below.
A quick unsolicited plug for my new toy too, a Leica V-lux 2: that puppy was ripping off 5-shot bursts (I think it can do up to 11 FPS at 5MP though) like no tomorrow. Though it may lack some technical abilities for a truly advanced photographer, the fact that it can take action shots (as in I dare you to put your ears up!) and zoom at an equivalent of up to 600mm all with the same lens makes it really nifty. All of that without considering that the digital SLR it’s taking over from here also cost three times as much. I love technology when it works.
