Rinsing the dust out
We both looked at each other gleefully this morning when we heard the patter of rain on our roof. Nothing can kill the appearance of a great alpaca fleece after all like days of dry weather combined with a good dust bath these critters like to give themselves. So it was that after tending to some stuff here at the house I ran around the farm making sure that all of the animals in our show string were locked outside where they could get a good soaking today.
If all goes according to plan they should have close to 18 hours to dry out in front of our show fans once we are set up in Essex tomorrow around midday. In the mean time while shopping for road snacks today I just found that our local chocolate company now makes these lovely dark chocolate maple leaves filled with peanut butter. Yes, I get it that they are primarily aimed at the tourists that are currently (and thankfully, given Irene) invading our state to look at the foliage but I am, as ever, what the big whigs on Madison Avenue would consider to be a soft consumer target. Could I resist? Of course not. I never said healthy road snacks…
