Seraphim update
Just a quick one here updating you on the status of our c-section girl, Seraphim. 24 days after the rather dramatic birth of her little girl, Avalon, both mom and cria seem to doing fantastically well! Though they will be living for several months yet in our warm room because of Seraphim’s surgically sheared left side, we are cautiously optimistic that we are out of the danger zone. Seraphim had her supportive belly band as well as her stitches removed last week and though we will watch her to make sure nothing herniates, we feel really good about how things now stand. Avalon for her part has been gaining weight hand over fist and will be sharing the warm room with the last newborn crias of the 2011 season as the final due females head there to birth out.
Though Seraphim is being held open until the spring, the next question is what we’ll find when we first look in on her uterus via ultrasound for the first time post-op, most likely sometime in the next month or so. We’ll keep you posted…
