CCNF Leviathan: now residing at Stillmeadow Farm in Stonington, CT!

Our deepest gratitude to everyone that both purchased and bid on our three lots this past weekend at the Parade of Champions auction! Our friends Pamela Brewster and Sylvie Romingol of Stillmeadow Farm Alpacas in Connecticut ended up being the winning bidders on CCNF Leviathan, our prototypical young Herdsire that is poised to do truly great things for them once he grows up. In the mean time, we will most likely have the rather surreal experience in the coming year of getting repeatedly beaten in the show ring by one of our own. We truly love that little guy though…

Thanks also to the Greene family of Snow Diamond Alpacas in Bend, OR for their purchase of our Snowmass Matrix Majesty daughter, CCNF Antebellum, and to the Halberg family of The Alpaca Group in Washington State, for their purchase of our Magdalena-line female, CCNF Adelia! Both girls came back home with us from the POC, and await the arrival of their pre-potent future boyfriend, CCNF Elixir, who is scheduled to make his first 2016 appearance back home at his birth farm in just under a month’s time. Both of the female buyers recognized what the total package really represented in those two lots, so congrats to all of them!

It of course goes without saying that we cannot leave the subject of the POC without offering our thanks to all of the people that make the sale weekend what it is nowadays: namely an event we are sincerely honored to be one small part of. Lynn Edens, Susanne Bienenstock, Arturo Peña, and the entire rest of the crew put on such a flawless and fun event at Little Creek Farm Alpacas/Accoyo America! From the Friday night cook-off to the drop of the final gavel on Saturday afternoon by the good folks of Silver Penn Sales (Brent Kaysen, Debbie and Mike Vigus & Co.), that was just a really well run shindig. I believe “class” is the word that more or less covers it all.

Senior AOA judge, Jude Anderson, gave a wonderful talk late Saturday morning before lunch, looking at the global perspective of alpacadom and what’s happening where in terms of different business models surrounding issues as broad as the development of commercial alpaca fiber markets, the use of embryo transfer technologies, terminal markets, the use (or non-use) of EPDs/EBVs, etc… Perhaps the only problem for Jude was that she had the misfortune of speaking after the amazing presentation given by Jeanne Carver of the Imperial Stock Ranch that was really nothing short of inspirational. If you weren’t at the POC, you quite frankly missed a fantastic all-around event and should probably plan ahead for 2017. The Parade of Champions has quickly become the single most important private alpaca auction in North America and the past weekend just showed again, unequivocally, why that is.
