Thank You, Alpaca Brammelo: CCNF Love Rules Heading to the Netherlands!
Unbeknownst to people watching, last month on a Futurity show team that didn’t lack for much from fawn and lighter, there was nonetheless a gaping hole in our yearling fawn males. It was unmistakably in the shape of CCNF Love Rules, the 3rd of 4 full brothers born from the combination of our Champion Elixir daughter, CCNF Love Dove, and our old friend, Snowmass Matrix Majesty. Would Love Rules have won a banner in Kansas City at the ’22 Futurity? He almost certainly would have competed for one even on a bad day. His family was well represented nonetheless, as we have noted elsewhere, with both his youngest brother (CCNF Love’s Grandeur), his niece (CCNF Dark Storm’s Trendsetter), and nephew (CCNF Lilah’s Storm Front) winning their respective classes in KC. It is a family that had had trouble getting exposure at the Futurity prior to this. Oldest brother, CCNF Dark Storm, was set to lead out our 2020 show team before the world went sideways that spring — though he has gotten down to more critical business since then — and brother #2 (CCNF Man of Peace) ended up being exported to Germany and our good friends at Sunstar Alpacas after their tragic loss of CCNF Sentinel. So though you may not have heard of them much until now, that family line and the four Herdsires it has produced are very much for real. One of the true joys, in fact, for us in Kansas City last month was having our old friends Ryen and Isabella Munro along for the ride helping us out, as it is their female, TGF Morning Dove (TGF Morning Bells x Snowmass Sub-Zero), who is the surviving matriarch of LR’s maternal line, still alive and well here at CCNF.
What would cause us to leave an animal of Love Rules’s quality off of our Futurity show team? Frankly, when the good folks at Alpaca Brammelo approached us about purchasing Ruler, it was the summer of 2021, we had not yet made an appearance in any form on the show circuit ourselves — courtesy of Covid — since the fall of 2019, and to put it quite succinctly, we had a chance to move a legitimately special animal for a fair but excellent price. A bird in the hand and all of that. Had we known that we would lose both Matrix Majesty and his dam, Love Dove, within months of each other, it might have given us pause at the time. Still, even we, infamous unrepentant hoarders of genetic quality, have to admit that the line is entirely secure here by almost any measure. Our only regret is that there was never a baby sister in the mix. You can’t win them all.
This spectacular young male is now in USDA quarantine in Oregon, beginning the long bureaucratic trek that will take him to his new home in Holland and the EU via an extended stay in Canada. Depending on that length of stay — and on the plus side, Canada is lovely, if perhaps a bit nippy from November to March — our Canadian friends and colleagues would be advised to check this guy out. He is, without a doubt, the most complete male we have sent abroad since dear Sentinel bided his time in the Great White North. Regardless, our deepest gratitude to Alpaca Brammelo, and may there be many great things for them and Love Rules on the horizon in the years ahead. Onward and upward!
