The plot thickens

So while we will openly confess that our former white show girl, Pristine, was bred last year to Snowmass Matrix Majesty on a bit of whim-and-a-prayer, the result seen in the accompanying picture kind of speaks for itself (himself actually). Having bred her to SuperNova as a maiden in 2010, in what was one of his last dalliances ever with the fairer sex (Novy was dying of intestinal cancer at the time), she gave us a beautiful little white girl last time around, CCNF Prestige. All of which really just served to further cement her standing in our eyes as one of the 2 or 3 top white/light colored females in our entire herd. Every now and then things go according to plan, right?

Now this! Tuesday’s birth of what appears to be a light brown male certainly complicates our long term thinking on Pristine though admittedly, only in a good way. Go figure, given that her paternal sister Ascension (both are Archangel daughters), who is in fact a classic fading beige, was bred last year to the same dark colored Herdsire as her sibling and reproduced her same beige coloration last week in her new baby. Of course the last time Ascension had a beige male that didn’t work out so badly, so all complaints are relative. In any case the sisters are both going to be bred in 2012 to Elite Legend, who just arrived back here late Tuesday morning in VT for the first time since last year. For his part, EL is currently encountering at the CCNF Arena what I believe is referred to as a “target rich” environment. Some guys have all the luck.
