The stretch run officially begins
Just got back home onto the farm this morning after two weeks away. Hey: how about that February thaw that happened while we are gone, wasn’t that great?! What’s that? Oh.
To say that halter training the new crop of juvenile show animals is going to be tough when the bottom two wires of our six-wire perimeter fence are still buried in the white stuff would be an understatement. There really is nothing quite like having recalcitrant weaners flinging themselves down onto the layer of mud (especially the white ones) that will develop when the sun does finally come out again, allegedly tomorrow. We now have 30 days until that new crew of juvis and their yearling compatriots head down to Springfield, MA on the trailer though, so the coming few weeks ought to be interesting ones indeed. Fingers crossed that Mother Natures take pity on us.
