They’re off!
Not sure what the rest of you good people out there were doing this morning at 5AM? We thought we’d get the day started with a bang by loading 52 alpacas into trailers. Fortunately we were able to take turns backing each rig up to the central alley of the Main Barn and more or less (with the females, a lot less) running them on instead of going through the whole rigamarole of halters and leads, which would have then been removed anyway.
Ryen has all of the boys (of which there are fewer) in his trailer and Jen and The Beast are carrying the females. If you happen to be anywhere near or on I-90 today and see a two trailer caravan with Maine and Vermont plates headed west, that’s probably them. All things being equal they are shooting for a morning arrival into Grand Island, NE on Thursday. In the mean time there are 26 fewer alpacas pooping on the farm than there normally are!
