Weaner, weaner on the wall…
Why we waited to do the 3rd round of weaning for the 2012 birth class until the coldest day yet in January was perhaps lost on all of us but oh, well. There were some monsters in this group too, with several of them near or over the 100 lb. mark. Of all the criticisms folks might sometimes send our way, underfeeding our animals is probably never going to be one of them.
Yours truly brought up his trusty camera to the Main Barn to document some of the newly arrived — and slightly whiney — weaners, thinking that this would present a good chance to start introducing them all to the greater alpaca world. Though bitter cold, it was a stunning day today with not a cloud in the sky from sunrise to sunset and with the blue sky contrasting sharply with both the snow and the peak of Mt Ascutney that rises up behind the farm, it had photo shoot written all over it. At least for about 5 minutes anyway, when I then proceeded to quickly lose all sensation in my hands. It was fun while it lasted though!
Missal is lookin’ good!
